Before the massage, the professional therapist will
conduct a thorough interview with you to determine
your individual needs and goals for the session and
to confirm there are no conditions that would prevent
a massage.
Next, your therapist will show you where to hang
your clothing, jewelry etc. and how to lie on the
table. Your therapist will then ask if you have any
questions and leave the room to wash his/her hands
and allow you time to prepare for your session.
Although you will be kept covered with a sheet throughout
your massage, if you are not comfortable in removing
all your clothing, it will not be expected. It is
easier for the therapist to give a more complete and
flowing massage if not working around clothing. This
is especially true when receiving a relaxation massage.
(NMT routines for pain management are typically isolated
to smaller areas of the body and require little to
no clothing removal.)
Modesty will always be respected. It is as much a
concern for the therapist as it is for the client!!!
